Orvieto
where all your dreams of
cobbled lanes,
gothic cathedrals,
tunnels, caves,
and
market days
come true.

Before we get to Orvieto we make a stop in
Deruta

Deruta is known for beautiful ceramics and the work we saw at Ceramiche Gialletti Giulio was no exception. Here we toured the factory, learned about the process and had an opportunity to puchase pieces to take home. The detail taken by the artists in the painting is truly amazing.

But wait.
There's more to experience!

Morning Gossip

Duomo di Orvieto

And then we arrived in Orvieto
where you get a workout climbing to up to the village.
What We Did...
A packed day. We purchased some souvenirs at the ceramics workshop and wine at the winery where we enjoyed learning about the wine experience with a tasty lunch. We took elevators up to Orvieto and pulled our suitcases to the Grand Hotel Italia. There was time for a quick walk-about and we promptly lost ourselves among the weaving alleys. Fortunately TI was an easy find across from the Duomo. Back in time for our welcome meeting and more wine after which there was a little adventure with the laundromat. Two guides, our driver, and three of us could not figure out how to operate the machines! After a good laugh, our laundry finally started we were on our own for an al fresco dinner.

Civita di Bagnoregio

The 'Village Charm Award' goes to
Civita di Bagnogerio.

The 2nd day here we visited the market and our group shared
an optional picnic lunch together with items we bought at the market.
The afternoon was spent exploring Civita di Bagnoregio.
Orvieto was having a festival while we were there
and our dinner tonight was outdoors watching the fun.

Where should we have our next spritz?

Such A Vew!
Not him - behind him.

The 'Best Sunrise Award' goes to Orvieto.

The best thing about being in Orvieto on Saturday was the local residents came out and
caught up with each other giving you the sense of day to day life in this active Italian village.
