Village Italy with Rick Steves

Lake Orta
Arriving in Lake Orta
marked our final bus ride.
We set out for an orientation walk
and a ferry ride to the island
where we all experienced the Walk of Silence.
After viewing the church,
we returned by ferry
to Tricia's treat of gelatos for all.
Yum.

We met together for our
Arrivederci Dinner
as the sun set on our
Italian experience.

What We Did...
Our flight from Milan wasn't until 10pm so we had the whole day on our own. The receptionist at Hotel La Bussola recommended going to mass on the island because the nuns would be singing and their voices beautifully echo through the church. It was divine.

Later we took the ferry
across the lake to Pella
for no particular reason
other than to ride the ferry and explore.
There was a small market
going on but not much else to see.
We had to wait quite a while to catch the return ferry, so remember to check your schedules first!
Back in Orta we lunched,
walked up the hill and explored,
sat by the pool,
and waited the arrival of our taxi.

When Tricia asked for
departure plans,
we wrote 10pm.
Don't do that!
Remember to use the
24 hour clock.
Thankfully Tricia
was gracious
and rescheduled our taxi
or we would have been
sitting in the airport all day
rather than sitting by a lake.
Arrivederci
Italy!
